10  Things to Know before booking Civitavecchia Transfers

.

.

1.  Vehicle Size

.

The first of our 10 Things to Know before booking Civitavecchia Transfers is knowing the size of vehicles available for your party and luggage. Vehicles for Civitavecchia Transfers have a maximum of 8 passenger capacity (see LUGGAGE capacity below).

This is the maximum size vehicle permitted to enter the Cruise Port and Rome’s Historic Center.

If you are traveling in a group larger than 8 passengers, you would require 2 vehicles.

2. Vehicle Luggage Capacity

.

With the benefit of cruising and not having to carry your luggage from place to place, as well as various functions on the cruise ships, many cruisers travel with more luggage than they normally would on a land trip.

If you are traveling with extra luggage for an extensive cruise, inform your transfer company of all your large and small luggage so you will be provided a proper size vehicle (or 2 vehicles for larger groups with extra luggage).

If you are a party of 1-3 persons for a transfer priced for a car type vehicle if you are traveling with luggage that would exceed the capacity of a car trunk,  be sure to inform your transfer provider as you may need to be upgraded to a larger vehicle such as a minivan.

Each van can also accommodate up to 6-7 check-in suitcases and up to 6-7small carry-on cases.

If your group expects to bring more luggage than the vehicle can accommodate, be sure to inform the company in case you may require 2 vehicles for all of the passengers and their luggage to travel comfortably and safely.

If you do not inform the company in advance of your extra luggage, it may result in extensive delays while a suitably sized vehicle or 2nd vehicle is made available for you and higher prices than you prepared for.

4.   Pier /  Shipside Pick up and Drop Off

.

Our Private Drivers can pick up and drop off passengers right on the pier next to their ship as they have security clearance to access all cruise ship piers.

This makes for a very convenient door-to-door service, especially when traveling with a lot of luggage or with children.

For pick-ups from Civitavecchia Cruise Port, please proceed to the area on the pier where all other drivers are waiting for their clients to disembark, and look for your driver holding a sign with your name in the reservation.

Do NOT take any buses or shuttles away from the pier or leave the port.

5.   Cruising with young children?

If you are traveling with young children that are 8 years or younger, be sure to request a child seat or booster seat as they are required by law in Italy.

Children are required to be secured in their age-appropriate child seats inside moving vehicles.  You may either bring your own child seats or request child seats to be provided by your transfer provider.

.

Recommended pick up time from Rome hotel accommodation to Civitavecchia is 11 AM – 1 PM

Recommended pick-up time from Civitavecchia to Rome hotel is  8:00 -9:00 AM (when most cruisers are disembarked by).

.

7.   Flying from Rome on the same day your cruise ends?

.

If you are flying out on the same day as your ship docks at the end of your cruise, don’t book your departure time too early in the morning.

Usually, approximately 11 AM is the earliest recommended time to book a flight in order to allow time in case your ship docks late, or you experience traffic delays on the way to the airport.

8.  Flying into Rome’s airports on the same day your cruise departs?

If you are flying into Rome’s Fiumicino Airport on the same day your cruise ship departs, it is recommended to book a flight that arrived in Italy in the morning to allow you plenty of extra time to accommodate for any unforeseen flight delays, or missing or delayed luggage upon arrival.

It is not recommended to book a flight arriving at Rome’s airport too close to your ships’ departure time as it would be risky in case of any unforeseen delays.

A private transfer is the best option to get to your ship as quickly as possible and to have your driver monitor your flight for delays and wait for you if you have delays with luggage.

9.  Privately Shared Civitavecchia Transfers – the best of both worlds!

.

Private Transfers are preferred as it provides cruisers complete control of their scheduled pick up, and allow for a predictable travel time and arrival time at your final destination.

Booking generic shuttle transfers are more economical but leave you without an exact pick-up time, and unknown duration of travel and arrival time due to the unknown number of additional stops the driver has to make to pick up other passengers.

Privately shared Civitavecchia Transfers offers you the best of both worlds: the convenience and benefits of a private transfer, but with the added savings of a shared transfer.

READ: Why Private Shared Port Transfers are better than Shuttle Services

You can create your own private group of fellow cruisers willing to share a transfer together, and you will be in charge of your pick-up time, how many persons will share your transfer, and the number of additional stops along the time. This will make your transfer more predictable and you are still in complete control of everyone in the group sharing the transfer together.

Thousands of cruisers have created their own privately shared Civitavecchia Transfers easily and enjoyed the benefits of a Private Transfer with the cost savings of a shared transfer.

It’s easy: just place an Ad on Cruise Critic Roll Call and invite fellow cruisers to share your Civitavecchia Transfers.

.

  • Civitavecchia to Rome Hotels (all centrally located to minimize travel time and costs of additional stops).

*  Civitavecchia to Fiumicino (FCO Airport and/or Hotels in Fiumicino)

.

*  Airport Transfers to Civitavecchia (due to unpredictability of airport arrivals)

Pick up and Drop off Hotels that are too far apart or in different cities as it would increase travel time and costs associated with additional stops far apart.
