TIVOLI
.
Tivoli is famous for its two diverse yet magnificent Ancient Roman Hadrian’s Villa (named after the ancient Roman emperor Hadrian) and the Renaissance Villa d’Este (named after Cardinal Ippolito d’Este) who commissioned these sprawling wonders of human imagination, ingenuity, and engineering.
Villa d’Este not only has a splendid Renaissance villa with wall to ceiling rich frescoes and opulent decorations fit for royalty, but a Renaissance Italian Garden that is a landscape masterpiece of sloped gardens with terraces upon terraces, manicured hedges and flowerpots, sweeping stairways, imposing architectural structures, and a symphony of fountains.
For a romantic stroll through this regal landscape reminiscent of the mythical Hanging Gardens of Babylon, don’t miss a visit to Villa d’Este in Tivoli.
A Day Tour to TIVOLI VILLAS is possible as a Day Tour from Rome that includes both Hadrian’s Villa and Villa d’Este.

NEMI

Nemi – RomeCabs
.
Nemi is as small and cute as its name. Overlooking the volcanic Lake Nemi from its clifftop position, (where ancient Roman Emperor Nero floated his Imperial fleet of pleasure boats), is the tiny village of Nemi, famous for its romantic charm and wild strawberries (fragoline) that are grown locally by the lake.
Nemi is so famous for its tiny succulent sweet wild strawberries that you find them everywhere from creamy tarts, locally produced jams and preserves, strawberry liqueur and strawberry bubbly. Various family owned shops line the narrow streets with a delightful array of fragoline treats that add to the enchantment of this tiny village.
Many wedding ceremonies take place in Nem in the summer, and it’s one of the most popular weekend destination for locals. Bring your sweetheart and enjoy a sweet fragoline tart while sipping fragoline bubbly at a sidewalk table overlooking the volcanic lake below.

CIVITA DI BAGNOREGIO
.
Civita di Bagnoregio is an ancient medieval hamlet has graced postcards all over Italy with its absolutely stunning and unique location: suspended on a plateau of volcanic tuff and surrounded by vast ravines.
Isolated like an island in a sea of badlands, Civita di Bagnoregio is connected to the world by a tall footbridge – too narrow for normal vehicle to pass through. Once inside, the delightful village still retains its medieval splendor with ancient weathered buildings that have housed a thousand years of generations. Currently only about a dozen people live in Civita di Bagnoregio year round, with about 100 in the summer.
Civita di Bagnoregio’s inviting and evocative atmosphere, and charming Medieval interior makes it one of the most romantic hamlets in Italy.

BRACCIANO
.
Bracciano is a town that fairytales are made of: Medieval Town overlooking a pristine volcanic lake crowned by an imposing Renaissance Castle.
Dating back to Medieval times, Bracciano grew into a flourishing town under various popular families who built upon the existing fortress to create what we enjoy now as the Orsini- Odescalchi Castle named after its previous owner the Orsini family, and its current owner, the Odescalchi family who bought it in 1696 and are STILL still the castle’s rightful owners today. It’s more commonly known as Bracciano Castle, and it was made even more famous when Tom Cruise was married here.
While you don’t need to get married inside Bracciano Castle (although, you can if you wish!), there’s no denying the romance of this magnificent castle with 2 levels of endless of opulent rooms where queens, kings, lords, ladies and popes once lived and slept. Each room is adorned with its original centuries’ old furniture, oil paintings, and rich wall frescoes. From the top of the castle, you enjoy a breathtaking views of Lake Bracciano – an actual volcanic crater that became a pristine lake that is also the home of many beautiful swans that regally glide along the shoreline.

.
If strolling through the Renaissance castle reminiscent of fairyles of long gone is not your thing, the shores of Bracciano are lined in the summer with bikini clad couples enjoying the refreshing lake, the black volcanic sand, and the warm Mediterranean sun.
.
Bracciano is part of the Stefano Rome Tours signature tour CASTLES AND LAKES that also includes the medieval borgo of Ceri and the Etruscan Necropolis in Cerveteri.

TREVIGNANO
.
If taking long strolls along the shore sounds romantic to you, you will enjoy the long promenade of Trevignano, one of the 3 towns that dot the shoreline of Lake Bracciano.
Along spacious promenade that extends for a couple miles you will find outdoor tables to enjoy outdoor lunch or drinks, restaurants, cafes and shops. Every other Sunday for most of the year is a large market with dozens of vendors that sell everything from antiques, local food stuff, clothing, jewelry, and arts and crafts.
Tucked away from the modern outside world is the sleepy Medieval borgo of Trevignano. Almost as if suddenly stepping back in time, you are transported a thousand years back as you find yourself strolling along narrow lanes lined with historic buildings and charming entrances lined with flowers. It’s one of the most enchanting little hamlets in Italy that you can’t believe it’s real!
In Trevignano, you can enjoy the best of both worlds: the modern world by the lake, and the Medieval atmosphere tucked away from sight.
Trevignano is part of the very popular CHARMING LAKESIDE VILLAGES Pre Cruise tour with Stefano Rome Tours.
